About Assam Sirish Scholarship Foundation
The Tea Tribes and Adivasi Department’s implementing agency is the Directorate of Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare which oversees the Assam Sirish Scholarship. The Directorate provides a wide range of programs, including grants for women’s self-help groups, skills and entrepreneurship, start-up grants for self-employment activities, and scholarships for students enrolled in school or college. The overall situation has significantly improved because of these efforts. Beginning with the fiscal year 2020–21, the Directorate has implemented an online application system via the https://sirishassam.in site to eliminate the laborious and error-prone paper-based processes. Objective of Sirish Scholarship
The primary objective of Sirish Scholarship is to provide various benefits and monetary help to the school and college students who are studying in Assam. Pre Matric Scholarship
For the benefit of underprivileged students, the program aims to give stipends to Pre Matric Scholarship recipients who are members of the Adivasi and Tea Tribe communities. Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a member of the Adivasi and Tea Tribes and a permanent resident in Assam.
- The applicant must have a valid caste certificate that has been properly validated or issued by the district’s deputy commissioner or another recognized official.
- Class-IX to Class-X students is eligible for the Pre-Matric Scholarship
- Submitting the family income report that the parent or guardian must give, noting that it does not exceed Rs. 5.00 lakh annually.
- Every kid of the same parents or guardians is qualified.
- Recommendation letters from the principal or headmaster or admission/fee receipts must be shown.
- The recipient of this scholarship is not permitted to receive any other grants or stipends from any government agency.
- Students that apply more than once from various Sub-Divisions will never be given consideration for the scholarships.
- Students who get financial aid from the government and are simultaneously receiving coaching at any of the pre-examination preparation facilities will not be eligible.
Post Matric Scholarship
The Post Matric Scholarship scheme’s goal is to help underprivileged students by offering stipends for post-matriculation scholarships to members of the Adivasi and Tea Tribe communities. Furthermore, the plan aims to help Tea Tribe and Adivasi students seeking post-matriculation or post-secondary education to finish their education by offering them financial aid. - The “Post-Matric Scholarship” is available to the candidate who will not be qualified for any other programs in the same year, except for the “Simon Sing Horo (Special Post-Matric) Scholarship” program, if applicable.
Simon Sing Horo Special Post Matric Scholarship
Students from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Community who have passed their HSLC exams under the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) or an equivalent education board approved by the Assamese government will get a one-time incentive of Rs. 10,000 under the Simon Sing Horo Special Post Matric Scholarship. Eligibility Criteria
- Students must have passed exams from the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) or another approved educational board during the current school year, or from SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam) or an equivalent board approved by the Assamese government.
- Proof of continuing education at the current level must be presented by the student.
- Community and Residence: The applicant must be a member of the “Tea Community” (perhaps referring to the Assamese Tea Garden Communities) and a permanent resident in Assam.
- A verification document that has been properly approved or issued by the relevant Commissioner must be submitted by the applicant.
- No matter how many students in a family complete the HSLC or HSSLC exams in a given year, the incentive will still be provided.
- In the same year, individuals who apply for this incentive program will also be eligible for regular post-matric scholarships, financial aid for higher education, and financial aid for ANM/GNM/technical courses, if applicable.
Financial Assistance for Higher Studies
The Financial Assistance for Higher studies main goal is to give financial aid to Adivasi and Tea Tribe students who are studying advanced degrees including MBBS, MBA, engineering, and other Students can pursue technical/higher education, including courses in administration, medicine, engineering, law, research, and teaching both inside and outside of their state or country. The pupils themselves will have direct access to funds. This Directorate will maintain accurate documentation and oversee the scheme’s execution.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be an Adivasi or Tea Tribe member and a permanent resident of Assam.
- The candidate needs to present a legitimate caste certificate, which is properly granted or verified by the Deputy Commissioner.
- Completing the yearly family income report, which must be provided by the parent or guardian and must not exceed Rs. 5.00 lakh annually (Annexure 1).
- Applicants may also be students enrolled in correspondence courses.
- The course’s entrance fee receipt or a recommendation from the institution’s head attesting to the student’s enrollment in the course must be shown. The candidate shouldn’t be employed by the government.
- Students who are imprisoned are not allowed to apply for scholarships for the same class more than once.
Financial Assistance for ANM/GNM/ Technical Courses
The program’s goal is to support the Adivasi and Tea Tribe adolescents in their pursuit of ANM, GNM, and Para-Medical training. Also, other technical and professional diploma and degree programs that guarantee employment and last at least one year at both government and nongovernmental institutions. The Directorate will request online applications from qualified members of the Tea Tribes community who wish to get coaching at reputable Assamese institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- He or she must be a member of the Tea Tribes’ group and a permanent resident in Assam.
- The applicant has to present their caste certificate (OBС/МОВC-TGL/Ex-TGL) that has been properly certified by the district’s deputy commissioner or another approved official.
- The candidate must provide an undertaking detailing his or her yearly family income in the format specified. (Annexure 1)
- He or she has to present the required paperwork attesting to their eligibility for the coaching.
- Undergraduate students preparing for admission tests in medicine and engineering should be in the scientific stream and have a major in either physics, chemistry, and biology for medical students or physics, chemistry, and math for engineering students.
Grants to Women SHGs
The program’s goal is to provide grants and other financial support to Adivasi and Tea Tribe women’s self-help organizations so they may start earning money. Eligibility Criteria
- There should be 10 to 20 participants in the Self Help Groups (SHGs).
- Every SHG member must be of the appropriate age. a group of people aged 18 to 59.
- All participants must be legitimate Indian nationals who live in the State of Assam and are members of the Adivasi and Tea Tribe communities.
- A bank account with joint-signatory provisions ought to be owned by the SHGs.
- The SHGs have to register with the appropriate Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) Block Development offices and Block Mission Management Units (BMMU).
- Every member of the group should be included in the group photo that the SHGs submit.
- After being covered by the program, SHGs will not be eligible to apply for another award for at least three years.
Swahid Dayal Das Panika Swaniyojan Achoni

Financial Assistance to Students who Cleared Civil Services Prelims Conducted by UPSC/APSC
Supporting ST and OBC/MOBC students taking the APSC/UPSC final exam is the goal of the Directorate of Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes, Assam’s “Financial Assistance for UPSC/APSC Mains Exam” program. For qualified applicants who passed the preliminary exam, the program offers financial aid. Candidates must be members of Assam’s ST or OBC/MOBC communities and have completed the APSC/UPSC preliminary test this year in order to be eligible. The Directorate of Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes, Assam, is in charge of carrying out the program. - A member of Assam’s Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), or More Other Backward Classes (MOBC) is required.
