Selection Process
The selection process for the scholarship program includes these simple steps:
- The scholarships are given by Central Sanskrit University after names are selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee which is made only for this purpose.
- The names which are picked by the committee, those names are then sent to GIAC where final yes or no is said by them and then only the list is made ready.
- The marks of Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit are checked from the previous class and the list is made by seeing only those marks, so students should have good marks in those subjects.
- If a student has Honours in Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit, then their total Honours marks is used for deciding.
- A cut-off percentage is fixed and only students who got more than that in Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit in the last class are chosen for scholarship by the university.
- But sometimes if not many applications are received from Honours or MA students who took Sanskrit or the same subject specially, then rules of marks can be made a little soft.
- Students must have a Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit subject of 100 marks or equal in both classes – the one passed and the one studying now.
- For getting Ph.D. or Vidyavaridhi scholarship, it is needed that Acharya or M.A. in Sanskrit, Pali or Prakrit must be passed with 60% marks and the student should be already registered in Ph.D. course also.
- Ph.D. or Vidyavaridhi scholarship is given for 3 full years (36 months) but it is continued only if the scholar sends progress report and utilisation certificate about the work done every year through the Guide and Head of Department so that university can allow second and third year scholarships.
